Make travelling time productive
skip: Make travelling time productiveSince December 2005, WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) has not only been available at our stations, but also on board some DB trains. ICE passengers with a WLAN-enabled notebook or PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) can surf the Internet, access their corporate Intranet, retrieve and answer emails on the Cologne– Düsseldorf – Essen – Dortmund line. Trains on which Deutsche Bahn offers this service can be identified by the “HotSpot” logo featured inside the train. Use is charged at the standard T-Mobile HotSpot rates.
Special range of information available between Dortmund and Munich
Deutsche Bahn and T-Mobile have equipped six ICE 3 trains with broadband communications technology. Internet connections for passengers travelling between Cologne and Dortmund are provided via several UMTS radio channels (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System. Alternative connections, such as via satellite, were also tested in the course of the pilot project.
In addition to the above services, Deutsche Bahn and T-Mobile also provide a special information service on the route section from Dortmund to Munich. In addition to the latest service and travel information from Deutsche Bahn, passengers can also access a comprehensive selection of contents from the T-Online information portal. The contents are updated during the journey when the train stops at the different stations.
The T-Mobile HotSpot facilities in the DB Lounges are still available as before.
